Car seat recommendations after a minor crash

My DH was in a minor crash tonight. According to the NHTSA, I don't need to replace them, but I am going to anyways. None of them are Britax's so, they should be replaced, correct? I am hoping the insurance is going to cover this. I currently have a Rf'ing Uptown, a FF Radian and a Nautilus...

What would you fly with, Marathon or Uptown?

I am taking a 5, 3, and 7 month old to Florida next month. I don't know which seat to take for my 7 month old on the plane. She currently sits full time in a Marathon. I also have an Uptown in Dh car, and my mom has a Scenera. Which seat is easier to use rf'ing on the plane? I assume that...

    Need advice

I am looking for some advice regarding my 5 1/2 year old. I have a 7 month old that I will be moving out of her snugride and into her brother's Marathon. I will then move my DS (3 1/2) into my DD's Nautilus. My question is what to get DD who is 5 1/2, 43 inches and 41 pounds. She sits...

Differnece between Compass b510 and b540?

It is hard to tell what the differences are! I am looking to buy this seat as a spare for Grandma's car for my 5 year old. She rides in both our main cars in a harness (Nautilus), but I am feeling like she is mature enough for a booster for the once a month should we be in grandmas car. Is...

Is installing in a 3rd row Sienna more difficult?

I am moving my 4 1/2 year old to the 3rd row to accomodate a new baby. She is sitting in a Nautilus. The install in the 2nd row captain chair (latch) was rock solid, tight as can be. We just moved the seat to the 3rd row. I can't seem to get it as rock solid as the captain's chair. It is...

Need advice to deal with idiotic cousin

My DH cousin is a moron when it comes to car safety. They have no clue how to install seats correctly and constantly come over for DH and I to 'help' them (which ususally means we end up doing most of the work). She has a 5 year old that is still harnessed in her car (big feat on my part)...

    Snugride base question

I am having a new baby in about 7 weeks. Our own snugride is 5 years old, along with the bases. I am choosing to borrow my brother's snugride, because it has EPS foam in it (and mine doesn't) , and I am absolutely certain of its history. My question is are my own 5 year old bases ok to use...

    Clarification of Nautilus

I did not think that you could use the Nautilus in booster mode while latched. Am I correct? My 4 year old is still in harness mode and will be for a LONG LONG time. I am just asking, because I saw a review on BRU where the woman was raving about the seat, and saying that she was going to...

    I'm so proud of myself!

You guys have given me so much good info and confidence! I am an RN in a labor and delivery unit. The other day, I walked into a patients room and found a visitor with a child in a baby bucket seat. I couldn't BELIEVE the size of the child. It was the length that shocked me actually. I...

    Another WWYD thread

I am having a new baby in August. I have two Marathons being used by a 4 year old and a 2 1/2 year old. WWYD when the new baby moves to a convertible (probably around Feb of next year). 1. Leave both older children in their Marathons until they outgrow them by height. The oldest marathon...

    Opinions on seat for SIL

Okay, I am helping my SIL and brother get new seats for their 8 month old DD. She is about 18lbs and 29+ inches. She is currently in a Snugride, but she is over the height limit listed in the manual, and her head is getting close to the top of the shell (I didn't measure it though). They need...

Changed my Radian buckles and crotch strap

What a pain in the neck! I was seriously ready to throw that car seat, and it was heavy! The buckle tongs are WAY to small for starters. You cannot get them off the straps without some serious sweat and a few tears! Where the strap folds over on itself and is sewed, it is too wide to fit...

    Keyfit question

I have a new baby due in August (my third!). I still have our Graco Snugride from our first born. It does not expire until Sept 09. All of my kids have been very heavy, and I move them to a convertable Britax at around 4-6 months. I am debating about getting a new infant bucket though, but...

So excited! Go a 3 across install!

We picked up the Nautilus today, and loved it! I am SO SO proud of myself, DH and I got 3 across in the back of his 02 Trailblazer! We had a snugride on the right, a Radian in the middle and the Nautilus on the left. I was very worried the Nautilus wouldn't puzzle, but it was fine! All 3...

Question about seats overlapping each other

Can parts of seats overlap each other in a 3 across install, or is that a no-no? I haven't done it yet, but I am going to try to put a Radian next to a Nautilus. I think the back measurements will be fine, but the arm rest may overlap the bottom part of the Radian seat. Yey or ney? Thanks! Dawn
