Vent/Question: Siblings fighting in vehicle

You wanna know something odd? If there were a rfing seat that prevented him from reclining, he'd grumble and then move on. But, as you know, people are sometimes irrational. So, the same principle somehow does not apply when there's not an actual object blocking his recline.

I've wondered if he would still insist upon driving or would suddenly decide my driving isn't that annoying. ;-)

For the record, my DH is a great guy and typically very helpful and supportive. This is just one of those random, irrational sticking points that everyone has.

I wonder if it will suddenly click when he sees the seats all rearranged?

This has been a problem for us since ODS went FF. My oldest is almost 7yo and youngest 3.5yo. It didn't get any better until we lost our RN and I FF the 3.5yo b/c he maxed out the borrowed seat RF. So, I *feel* your pain and am still debating RF vs FF the 3.5yo, so on the positive side, it gets better eventually!

And, ROFL about that duct tape comment, I've seriously thought about that too! I've also threatened (joking of course) to put the 3yo in the trunk (even better I drive a hatch back we don't have a trunk), but it really smartens him up for some reason! LOL I suggest not threatening the roof, for some reason that made him cry, perhaps b/c he knew what it was! LOL And, again, joking, how would I secure the car seat? LOL

And, I've done the radio trick, open/close every window in the car, yelling, stopping the car, getting out of the car and I'm sure a dozen more. Taking the 3yo out of the car and closing the doors worked once, it was a few weeks after our crash and I might have just lost it. I couldn't stand the screaming and still had the after crash jitters...so took him out and told him he was going to have to walk home. Think it worked b/c I was *not* kidding and we were only a couple blocks from home, so certainly could walk home. He'd kicked ODS in the face...

My kids fight like cats and dogs in the car too
Even in our van where they are not right next to each other, my older two are constantly antagonizing each other because DS is RFing in the captains chair and DD is FFing in the 3rd row. And she is the only one who can buckle and unbuckle herself so she has to be back there and there is only one top tether right in the middle!

You can imagine my surprise when I had a RF and FF seat in the car and one more complaint to add to the list for those that are against ERF is that the RF can kick the FF in the head! And, that's a legitimate reason not to ERF, that would have to hurt and really could be dangerous!

I have the boys on separate benches and separate sides of the car and they still annoy each other.
I just put veggie tales on loud and ignore it.

Do you still have the radian? If so I would try a 3 across in your backseat with the radian ff behind the driver. Its so low profile that your dh should still be able to recline his seat when your ds isn't in the radian. Then I would put your ds outboard in the radian when your dh isn't with you and center in the true fit when your dh is driving. That way you can at least get some space between them when you're alone with them and driving.

Update: Rfing Ave outboard passenger, ffing MR center. Try as he might, DS cannot reach DD with his feet! This will only be a temporary setup as neither kiddos has much growing room (DD has .5" to top slots, DS is 31#), but maybe it'll get us through this phase.

As an aside, I feel like DD is laying down in the MR. It just looks odd to me ffing bc we always have it rfing. ;-)
