Get her to look at CRS's RF page - she's a Kiwi and we use Aussie seats so it's really relevant to your sis.

There are some good FAQ and links at the bottom.
Also this vid: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psmUWg7QrC8
And this gallery of pics http://childrestraintsafety.com/extended-rear-facing-gallery.html

Emily in my siggy pic is RF at 14m / 9-ish kg in a S&S seat, and will be for the next 3kg too! lol

HTH, it's frustrating trying to explain, isn't it?

16 months old. About 20 pounds. I can't remember how tall he was, but he was about the 3rd to 5th percentile for his age. RF in a Britax Roundabout in a Toyota Corolla.

2 1/2 years old. Not in a car. Ready for an airplane trip. 25 pounds. 34 inches. He also was RF on the plane. Britax Marathon. You can see his legs hanging off the front. Now imagine the seat reclined back. That really isn't that much leg that he has to bend or put up on the seat back. He has never complained about his legs.

I'd also mention to her that our RFing kids are plenty big enough to complain or simply tell us if their legs hurt. My 3½yo shrieks if his shirt is bunched up under his back , he'll SURELY alert me to any leg pain. ;)

:yeahthat:

Joy will raise the roof if her tights itch - she certainly would have let us know if RF was uncomfortable for her.
