i didn't know about the new "clean" diesel coming out this spring. i only knew that the prior diesel wasn't 50-state legal, so VW had dropped it.

I did stop by the Mercedes exhibit for their "Bluetec" diesel technology. "Better than Hybrid" or something. I was thinking two things. One, why not clean diesel AND hybrid. Two, why not "Greentec"?

Shame on Honda.

Granted, I do like the Si and might need VSA a bit more if I had one of those lol.

Honda would have had my money if only they offered ESC on the Civic. For the second time in a row I bought a Toyota over Honda because they offer more options within the different trim levels.

honda would have had my money if they sold the civic SI in a four-door hatch/wagon like mazda and several other automakers . why don't the automakers listen???

For you diesel lovers, relax. Low sulfur diesel is nearly upon us in the US. Manufacturers are updating their diesels. A couple are ready I believe, but in the next couple of years, you should see a whole ton of diesels coming out. Basically, once they can get it to pass emissions in CA, it'll be out in force.

Some companies are banking on diesels instead of hybrids to bump up their CAFE ratings.

A small, low-sulfur diesel in a hybrid configuration would really bump their CAFE ratings. Plus, it would have a ton of low-end torque. Toyota and VW really need to get together on this...
