After Cosco Scenera??

What would be the next step after the Scenera? I am looking for a very inexpensive seat to leave at my mother in laws (in Italy). I hate traveling with ours as it is a 24 hour door to door trip with many flight changes and the lugging of a carseat just about puts me over the edge. I was thinking about getting a Scenera and leaving it there but it is only good until 40 pounds. I would like something that will last longer. My daughter is 26 months, 35 pounds and 39 inches tall.
So what's good after the Scenera?

Thanks all!! :)

Is price a strong consideration? I would maybe say the Radian XTSL because your daughter could be rear-facing until she's 45 pounds in that and then use it forward facing to 80 pounds. That would last her quite a while. They cost about $300.

EDIT......blonde moment. Totally forgot that you had said inexpensive. The Apex 65 is about your cheapest option for a weight limit above 40 pounds. I think they are around $100. The Graco Nautilus is really nice and it's about $150.

Ride Safer Travel Vest would be my first choice, provided she either has a lap and shoulder belt, or a top tether.

Not any more. :) The Evenflo Maestro has a 50 lb. limit and way high top slots, and is about $75-ish. The Evenflo Generations 65 has a higher weight limit but lower top slots than the Maestro, and is $99. Its advantage over the Apex is that it does not require head support.

However, I'm with Wendy-- I'd go for a RSTV, if you don't want to rear-face her. If you'd like to rear-face, the MyRide is list price $150 but can be cheaper if you work a deal (like the Babies R Us trade in going on right now) and rear-faces to 40 lbs. (more petite/shorter torsoed kids may actually make it there-- longer, skinnier ones probably won't) and forward-facing rating is 65 lbs. (though most kids again will outgrow by height before weight.)

Right, I forgot about those new Evenflos. Thank goodness for them. I hate that darn Apex 65! I don't like recommending it.
