Talk to me about infant seats

I'm expecting #4 and need another infant seat. My kids tend to be big, grow fast, and this is the last one so I'd prefer not to spend a fortune on it. I'm not opposed to spending money on carseats (my son is in a Radian) but the bucket seats have typically only lasted my kids a few months. I...

    Research supporting extended RF?

Talking to our family doctor recently he said there's no research supporting extended rear facing. He still gives the AAP recommendation of two years, but just in talking about it (he's a friend) he said that there was no research supporting it. Given all of the support here (and the new...

    Carseat touching the front seat

I know this is only okay for certain seat/car combinations. My understanding is that it is allowed in the Radians. Is it ok for Britax? How do I know whether it's okay for my car? I don't recall seeing anything about it in the child safety seat section of the manual, but would it be reference...

    Car seat dimensions

STILL shopping for a seat. I don't think I've put this much effort and research into my car purchases! Do any other car seat manufacturers put out dimensions like Clek? Having those stats would make picking one so much easier. The car seat database is wonderful, but the front to back depth...

Narrow RF convertible for 3 across?

The car seat database has an amazing amount of data, but not the width of the base where it hits the car seat, which is what I need. I'm going to have a 9yo in a Bubble Bum in the middle so I want a seat with a narrow base so she has plenty of room to maneuver. Suggestions?

Anyone use a Bubble Bum for daily use?

I'm considering one for my 9yo. It seems like tons of people use them as a spare or for travel, but I don't see a lot of people using them as a regular seat. Any caveats I should be aware of?

Help choosing a convertible...family of five in an Audi wagon

My girls are 9 (no booster) and 6.5 (HB Turbo Booter), my son is 7m and outgrowing his Snugride, and I am very rusty on car seats! What would you recommend for a 2001 Audi All Road wagon? Width matter since the kids are three across, and depth matters because my husband and I are both tall...

Best places to buy a seat? (good return policies)

I have three kids, 9, 6.5, and 7m. Thing 3 is just outgrowing his infant seat and I'm in the market for a convertible but I'm far removed from convertible shopping. My cars are a little difficult to fit: Audi wagon & 2-door (really) VW Golf. We didn't have either of these when Things 1 & 2 were...

Question WHY do booster manufacturers think everyone drives an enormous car?

I just bought a Golf, "upgrading" (;)) from a Civic and am frustrated by how hard it is to get three kids into the back. My DDs are 4.5 (40lb 43") & 6.5 (50lb 50") and in a Boulevard and HB Turbobooster, respectively. I also have a second TB and a Cosco no-back. All I want is a narrow booster...

Question Third row in a wagon...a poll

After this thread I have one more question. Here's the seat: Technically it's illegal in VA to put a child under 8 (under 9?) there. The law requires a carseat or booster, and boosters aren't "properly installed" if used in a RF seat which again makes it illegal. IF you had a 5-8yo child...

Question Third row in a wagon...legal in VA?

We're buying a '98 Audi with a rear-facing third row. The seats go up to 70 lbs or 4'9". I have two girls, 5 and 3. Both are tall and of average weight. I don't need to use the seats on a daily basis but it would be nice to be able to use them for the 5+ crowd when carpooling around town...
