YAY! Enjoy the hotel. It does suck for a few weeks, but once claim payments are started and deductibles are worked out and you get to buy stuff you've lost, it gets kinda fun. We were in one for 2.5 months and with a little baby, I got rather used to just calling someone to have the sheets changed.
And breakfast.
And then extra living expenses for food.. eating out. You must try Tokyo on Oak Street.
In general when these things happen they are on such a smaller scale than what you are imagining. While she lost her car/car seat most people didn't. I lost mine 3 years ago. My car had a tree on it with power lines entangled. I got a temporary seat from the sherrif dept. I was the only person on the street who couldn't get into their vehicle. Once I could, we really felt that since it wasn't totalled an all the damage was superficial that we could continue using the seat.
I do not doubt that there are probably 15 or more people in the area who likely lost cars/car seats. They were hit pretty hard. Entergy still hasn't been able to restore power to the majority of those hit.
I would love to arrange something, but I have limited contacts and Holly (the state coordinator) isn't available to me for something so big on such short notice. I have been given the ok to get more seats or what have you for any others who I come in contact with who lost theirs in the tornado. Now that it is the weekend, I may not be able to move as fast, but will do what I can. It is nice to feel like I can do something to help someone else. I don't have an affiliation *yet*, but I'm doing my best.
