I need a new seat to fit my tallish 2 y/o that sits rear facing but has the forward option too. I want to keep her rear but Dad is wanting forward. I've only bought Chicco, I don't like Graco because all the recalls but I'm open to any brand any price as long as it's lasts for years & does rear and forward.

For compact seats that are tall for rear facing and have leg room, I'd look at the Graco Exztend2Fit and Nuna Rava.

Welcome to car-seat.org!

If you like the Chicco brand, the Chicco Nextfit is a tall seat that is great for rear-facing.

I was hesitant on the Graco brand for awhile after the recalls as well, but they have produced some great seats in the last few years. My personal favorite for both extended rear-facing and forward-facing is the Graco Milestone.

Can I ask why her dad wants her to go forward-facing? If he has specific concerns, there are certain seats that may be able to address those concerns. The Graco Milestone or the Diono Radian, for example, are lower and easier to lift a child into. If he's worried about her being cramped, the Graco Extend2Fit and the Nuna Rava have additional legroom. If he's worried about the seat taking up too much space and requiring the front seat to be too far forward, the Extend2Fit and Britax Clicktight convertibles are both very compact while also being very tall.
