Update and Question about my car

Okay... So I posted before about how my driver's seat back on my minivan moves a little when I come to a stop. I took it to the dealer and they agree that there's a little extra play in the seat where I put the seat to sit but that other vans also have the same thing... so they deem it normal.

I think it is weird and uncomfortable. What is your opinion on this? It is a brand new 2012 Sienna with 1600 miles on it. It has been doing this since the day or day after I got it (4.5 weeks ago). No one has ever kicked or been rough with the seat. I bought the car new.

Now, admittedly... it isn't a lot of movement but it is enough to feel the seat back shift forward when the car stops. Would you think this is reasonable? I've talked to corporate and they are just siding with the dealer that all is fine. What would you tell them? Would you just forget about it? The dealer said I can meet with the field rep in August and a supervisor is supposed to call me on Monday.

Have you ever noticed your seat back moving when you stop you car? Any car?

I wouldn't think it was ok. If its anything different than a brand spankin new van than it needs to be fixed.

I haven't noticed it in my Sienna, but I know what you're talking about - it's happened in two previous vehicles (Saab 9-5 and Mazda 5). Both were dealer checked and ok'ed. This was, however, before I was "into" vehicle safety as I am now and I never pressed the issue further.

I would be fine with it if others do the same thing. Nothing's perfect is the stance I would take if I was otherwise happy with the car. I don't think I have ever had a quirk-less car.

Hmm if that's the case maybe it's an engineering thing.
