Towel under carseat

Is it safe to put a towel under the carseat?

A thin towel in one layer is generally considered safe, as it should not interfere with installing properly. check to make sure that this is allowed by your specific car seat, but most do allow it.

We have the Radian XTSL and we want it to be more upright. It looks to be less than 45 degrees (ground to seat angle). It looks fine after a fresh installation, but it seems to sink into the seat making the XTSL more reclined.

I did check the manual but I did not see anything about using (or not using) a towel.

No, you can not use ANYTHING with a Radian to change the angle of installation EXCEPT the top tether (To make it more reclined). Only the boot is allowed (and it is required for ALL RF installations).

When a rolled towel or pool noodle is allowed to change the angle of a rear-facing seat, that will generally be noted in the manual. When it is, you can only use it to make the seat more reclined, not more upright, anyway.
