Thread Marking Read/Unread Change

When the threads "go away," do they come back again once there's a new post?

Yes, except for your own posts, that aren't considered "new."

I'm going to assume it's because of this change, but the app has been working amazingly. It used to be that the app would open and show everything read, even when it wasn't. Or there would be a long thread I never read, and when I finally opened it, it would only take me to the posts since my last log-in or whatever. Now, it really truly takes me to the first unread post. There was a thread I read today that was started days ago, and it actually took me to the first post.

Woot!

I had a chance to play on the computer today, and my verdict is...

:duck:

I have no objection to threads "going away" once I've read them since they're accessible in Today's Posts. As I mentioned before, the functionality on the app is much improved.

Now that I've gotten used to using "Today's Posts" instead of "New Posts", I'm completely fine with the change. It's not perfect, and I'll probably miss some posts because of how my own brain works, but I do like that I don't have to worry about getting back to c-s.org within an hour, and I do like that it tracks where I am in threads across devices, so, OK.

Ok, maybe I missed this somewhere, I think it is related. I post, then I hit mew post, and the post I posted on is not listed. I thought I was loosing it yesterday, but no, it isn't me.

Stop using "New Posts" and start using "Today's Posts" (under "Quick Links" on the same bar that has "New Posts").

It will come back when someone else posts, but isn't considered "new" if the post is from yourself.

Grarrr!!

I'm surprised this took as long as it did to happen, but you know how "Today's Posts" is the first link under "Quick Links"? Well, the SECOND link under "Quick Links" is "Mark Forums Read", and I just mis-clicked to it, so now the forum has marked every single post as read.

Grr.

Can "Today's Posts" go up on the top somewhere? Maybe swap "Calendar" into the "Quick Links" drop down or something. Pleeeeease?

I always use new posts when I log in. And I liked it the way it was. I do not like the fact that read posts disappear.

I have newer used Today's posts. The reason being that I want all the new threads from when I was last logged in, not just the ones from today. Maybe I will get used to using today's posts instead if you keep new posts like this, but I do not like this change.

I hang on another forum a lot and I always use the new posts there too.

This is why the change was made- please see previous posts;-)

I can switch it back if the majority of people that use this feature do not care for the new layout.
