Snugride 32 or Radian XTSL for air travel?

I was hoping to find another thread that might help me decide, but couldn't, so I thought I'd just ask myself.

My son will be 10 months (he's 9 now), weighs 17 lbs and is 24.25". We have a Snugride 32 from when he was little and the Radian. He mostly sits in the Radian for car travel and occasionally the SR.

We will be taking a couple of short flight trips this summer and I don't know which seat will be better to fly with. We will also be driving once we get to the destinations. Both seem to have their minuses (and I don't like either for different reasons!).

If we take the Snugride, would you suggest getting a snap and go system? That sucker is heavy!! I would probably just wear the baby in the airport.

Any advice would be so appreciated. We're pretty nervous about flying with him!

i would take the SR32 since he still fits.

will you have any rolling carry on luggage?

what i did in the past was use a luggage strap to strap my SR to the back of my carryon. then i wore my DD through the airport.

if you arent bringing a rolling carryon, a cheap luggage cart does the trick as well.

or if you arent bringing much carryon and you have 2 adults traveling, someone can just carry the car seat.

i miss the days of traveling with an infant seat. i found it so much easier!

Yes, I suppose we could just strap it on the luggage. The only bummer would be if we got tired of carrying him! I was thinking that we should take advantage of the east of the infant seat while we can. I guess that's the good thing about him still being small!

Thank you for answering me (and you're in King County, too...we're in Tacoma!).

SR32, hands down! It will be easier to deal with on the flights and has a better potential for being an easy (baseless) install in cars at your destination, too. Just wear him in the airport!

I'd totally do the infant seat and snap and go over the Radian, especially since it's unlikely you'd be able to use the Radian rear-facing on the plane.

Looks like the snugride wins!

We do have an umbrella stroller that was pretty cheap (although I hate using it as I'm used to a Bob!). Do you think that we could attach the seat somehow?

I'm kind of scoping out craigslist for a snap and go. Maybe one will turn up there.
