Question Snugride 30 in '97 Jeep Grand Cherokee

My husband and I just bought a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. I've been looking into buying a Graco Snugride Connect 30 for the little one on the way but I've been reading about some issues with it fitting behind the driver or passenger seats. Also, the locking clip in the seat belt to hold the base seems to be a concern, too.
I'd loved to hear from anyone who has a the same year, make and model so I can get the most accurate answers. Help me put my mind to rest! Thank you.

Welcome! Do you mean the Classic Connect or the Click Connect?

A 97 Jeep probably has locking latchplates. (For more on how belts lock, please see here: http://www.carseatsite.com/lockingclips.htm )

If they don't lock, or you just don't want to worry about it, the Snugride 30 Classic Connect can be used with the Snugride 35 Classic Connect base that has a lockoff, which makes it easier.

If you have a lap-only belt center, then you are golden- it should be easy to install with!

I haven't heard of huge front-to-back space issues with a 30; most likely you won't have a problem if you leave the handle in the fully upright position, but you may want to try before you buy (Babies R Us and other baby stores allow this.)
