I just got a new car with super slippery leather seats and now my daughters car seat slides really bad. Is it safe to use those car seat protector mats or a towel or anything?

Remember that less than 1 inch of movement is a good install. What kind of car seat and is it rear facing or forward facing and what kind of car is it?
Is the seat installed with LATCH or with seat belt.

Most car seat mats are not recommended. Mats and towels cannot be used to correct a poor install. They create a false sense of security, but they compress during a crash and the seat will still be loose.
