Ride Safer Vest Questions

I got a Ride Safer Vest for traveling. The headrest looks like it wouldn't do much for safety and would be optional, but I can't find anything in the instructions about it. Is it?

It looks awkward and like it wouldn't be too useful for comfort. For those that use the vest, does your child like to use the head pillow? My son rarely sleeps in the car, so I was thinking of not taking it with us on our upcoming trip, and was wondering if that would be okay and what others do.

I have one and don't see any safty purpose except to keep thier heads off the tether, it V's right there in the head area. But I use it. I seen someone post that they covered that area when they took off the headrest.

Yes, the RSTV is currently my child's primary carseat since we carpool -- the "head rest" is optional for the child's comfort (mine doesn't find it comfortable so we ditched it altogether & instead us a silk scarf just to keep her braids from catching in the hooks)

Thanks! I'm thinking I'll leave it at home then. We are going to Europe, so we probably won't have tether anchors anyway.

You can use it with shoulder/lap belt, only NEED tether with lap belt only.
