I'm going to purchase a Diono Radian R120. I a friend recently purchased an RXT and allowed me to try it in my car. I was always afraid of purchasing one before because of bad reviews I had read about them not fitting into cars and being difficult to install. I was very pleasantly surprised that it fit just fine in my '03 4 door Chevy Cavalier and installed rock solidy with ease.
BUT... there's this top tether thing I couldn't figure out. My car does not have attachment places for what the Radian's manual said it should. There was nothing on the car's floor to attach the tether to, and nothing on the front of seat either to loop that tether connector strap to.
Am I missing something??? Is it unsafe to use without that tether? None of my other convertible seats had to have a tether anchored anywhere when rear facing.
And just incase someone recommends a tech:
There are no reputable techs in my area to my knowledge. I've taken my seats to some at local health departments, and I think I could have done their job better. I even sent my son's grandparents to a car seat check once, and their so called "tech" told them my son was too big to ride RFing (he was not quite 2 at the time, no more than 30lbs) and switched his seat FFing. I was fuming!
