Rear-facing Tether Drama

I just went and looked at the d-ring on the passanger seat track of my 2005 Malibu Maxx. It looks like our tracks are similar. The seat was installed via LATCH in the center.

I don't have a seat with a RF tether in use...I was just playing. But we NEVER move the passanger seat. I'm almost always the one who sits in the passanger seat.

Here's the pic:

SusanMae, I can't quite tell, is the strap around the track itself? It never occurred to me that if we don't move the seat, it would be fine to use the actual track. Assuming the seat won't be moved, do you think it would be better to use the track attached to the floor or to keep it around the passenger seat-belt buckle anchor, which is attached to the seat?

It's around the track itself. I'm not sure which is safer...but I like the track personally. My seatbelt stalk moves forward and back, that's why I prefer the track.

Sorry the links weren't working for me....but I'm glad you found the pic!

I used to drive an 04 Chevy Impala and also went through a lot of hassle trying to find a good anchor point for the rear facing tether.

I ended up using the D ring strap around the track on the passenger side. The carseat was outbound on the passenger side. I looped the D ring around this metal track, pulled it back towards the plastic piece as far as I could, and tightened it. The front seat won't go all the way back, but the tether is in a good spot. It's anchored directly to the ground and the bar itself does not move.

I'm not sure about the van tether though, sorry!
