Question question about boosters

New member
this is something I have wondered about over the last few days.

but if a a belt positioning booster is secured by the adult seatbelt why do they have weightlimits. Wouldnt the seatbelt be taking the force in a crash and booster just helps to positon the seatbelt correctly, after all there is generally no weight limit foir adult seatbelts.

sorry if my question seems dumb :)

There is a weight limit for adult seatbelts. 350 pounds, I think. Not sure.

Boosters take some of the crash forces away from the child. And then the child rebounds onto them. Too heavy, and I guess in theory they could shatter the booster. Do I worry about that for most kids? Nah. But if you put a 200 pound 12 year old into a 100 pound rated booster, I bet it wouldn't work well. It's just plastic, and that's a lot of force to come back onto plastic.
