Hi there - my tall (75% height) almost 4 y.o is about to outgrow his Combi Coccoro front-facing. He is tall and skinny and has outgrown all of his seats due to height vs weight. What seat would you recommend next for Manhattanites who: 1) don't own a car, so need something somewhat easy to install and transport 2) rent zipcars of varying size, so need something that will work with smaller cars like a Mazda 3 3) are contemplating a 3rd child so need a 3-across compatible. DD rides in a Chicco Keyfit 30.

Advice is much appreciated!!!

41 inches tall, 33 lbs

A Diono Radian (folds & can get carrying straps for it for travel) will last a very long time for that little man. :) It's not always the easiest install, but you can learn the tricks from others here and be totally fine with it. ;) And it can be handed down to your dd later, when he's riding in a booster. It's probably the easiest one to fit in a 3 across, besides the Coccoro. So, they should work together, too. OR there's the Evenflo Chase (the new one that looks like a Maestro) or the Evenflo Maestro. Both are lightweight forward facing combo seats (don't last long as a booster, so I wouldn't really even consider either as a booster), but the harness slots are about as tall as the Radians for less money and lighter to move around, plus probably a more straight forward install. The Chase only goes to 40 lbs, but your little guy is a light weight..the Maestro goes to 50 lbs and will certainly last him longer. A Harmony Defender 360 would also work well.

If you end up needing a 3 across, I'd probably look into some of the harnesses that are available in lieu of a car seat...probably would fit in a three across much better and easier than toting 3 car seats. Three across in really tiny cars can be impossible, and they're rarely easy anyways.
