Oldest harnessed FF in front seat?

Am I correct that the oldest harnessed child can safely be in the center of the front bench seat in a pickup truck? The one I'm thinking of is almost 6. The seat has a headrest and a lap/shoulder seat belt. As long as she is harnessed and not in a booster is this safe?

Hi Wendy, I have heard of this before but I have never understood it very well. Can I ask why it is preferred that the child be harnessed and not in a booster? There aren't tethers in the front seat, so it seems like maybe a booster would be better?

Because the child will stay in position. They may not in a booster.

This is not cut and dry. If your kids are a backless booster 10 year old, and then harnessed two year old and six month old twins, if there's a lap and shoulder belt and headrest I'm going to choose the 10 year old. But in this situation a harnessed six year old sounds best.
