I have a Britax Marathon clicktight. I turned my almost 3 year old to front facing recently. I have been unable to find any rear facing carseats that will accommodate both height and weight. Based on carseat blog reviews the Britax Boulevard will get me another inch of harness height. My questions are 1. is there a car seat that will get my little rear facing, and 2. if there isn't such a seat should I just get a combination seat?

Hi there.

To rear face longer you could look at the Graco Extend2Fit, Safety 1st Grow and Go EX Air, Nuna Rava. Those are all tall and easy to install and go to 50 pounds/49" rear facing. There are also the Clek Foonf and Fllo, but I don't know if you want that price tag for less than 4" of rear facing time. They all also have higher top slots than your Marathon ClickTight.

If you decide not to buy a new seat for re-rear facing, then there is no need to buy a combination seat until your child outgrows the harness height on the Marathon, which will probably be another couple of years. (Watch for when the child's shoulders are above the highest shoulder setting, then it is outgrown by height forward facing!)

Sorry I forgot to state that my little already has her shoulders even with the straps at the highest setting on the Britax Marathon. As soon as she has any more growth in height her shoulders will be beyond the manufacturer's recommendation. This is what prompted the inquiry. I compared the Graco Extend2Fit, Safety 1st Grow and Go EX Air, Nuna Rava using your website and found the highest harness height positions to be within a half inch or so of the Marathon. Based on this I think I will just go to the combination seat when the time comes.

I will make sure to use your site to buy my next car seat. Your information has been incredibly valuable.

I appreciate the speedy response.
