Can anyone tell me the law in Missouri about car seats/seat belts? I can't find anything about minimum rear facing time and have a friend who is trying to use that as an ok to FF her 8 month old despite what I've told her about RF! Thanks!!

It doesn't look like their is a law in Missouri about it. Most convertibles are only allowed to be turned ff at 1 year and 20 lbs for the minimum though. Someone else chime in, if I'm not correct about this though.

The law says kids need to be in a harness until 4 and 40 lbs and a booster until 8. It doesn't specifically say kids have to be rear-facing for a year but all seats say they can't be used FF until a year. Therefore using a FF seat for an 8 month old would kind of be against the law.

Would she go to a car seat check? Some here aren't all that great but none
would let an 8 month old leave FFing.

It's specifically against the law.

http://www.modot.mo.gov/safety/NewChildPassengerRestraintLaw.htm

1. LESS THAN 4 YEARS OLD - This act requires children less than four years old, regardless of weight, to use an appropriate child passenger restraint system.

She's not using the seat appropriately, likely, therefore it's illegal.

The Comfortsport is the only seat I've seen that doesn't list 1 year as a minimum. Provided she's not using a Comfortsport it's illegal.

Well I doubt they'd go to a seat check the way a friend is talking. It is actually a friend of a friend but they are apparently insistent that one and twenty does NOT matter. I gave her all the info so we shall see!
