Need carseat for truck for grandchild, was: William cleary

I have a 2007 GMC Sierra (basic. Not extend cab)

Also have new grandson.

Looking for advice and best choice for baby car seat. I know backward facing. Turn off airbag.

But brand? Installation ?

Hi Mr. Cleary,

How old is your grandson? Do you know how heavy he is, and his shirt size? These give us an idea of his overall size as well as his torso length. Do you have a budget of which we should be mindful?

He should be rear facing until as close to four as possible, then in a harness forward facing with a top tether (which you have in your truck already) until about six, then boostered until 12.

You'll be doing a seatbelt installation since you don't have LATCH. Depending on what seat you get we can walk you right through it, or find videos.

Is he in an infant seat with his parents? If so, you can do a baseless install of that seat for now, or get another base if you'll have him often. Otherwise we can look at convertibles for him.

Also, he will have to go passenger side. Your truck doesn't allow a carseat to be installed in the middle spot. Since your middle spot is only a lap belt, it really makes your truck a 2 seater.
