Nautilus Question

Okay so I have a friend that just moved their child to a backless turbo and gave me their Nautilus. I know for a fact that it is not been in an accident or ever washed at all. They don't know how to take it apart so I know it is fine to keep using.

So I want to put it in my hubby's van. He drives a 2 seater Chevy Astro 1991. I have 3 kids ages 4.5, 7, and 9. I want to leave the harness in it for the younger two and just push it to the side when the oldest rides in it. The child that will ride in it the most is the 7 year old (he is about 50 lbs and 46 inches tall. He still fits in the harness and will for a good while longer. The oldest in only in the van maybe 4-6 times a year is this really a big deal and should I just put it in booster mode even though it will be in the front seat. There are no air bags at all in the van.

I really don't want to have to keep changing seats out as it is a pain in the rear.

So what would you do?

Also can I use the harness from my daughters GN in this new one, just for peace of mind?

I think you're asking if you can leave the harness in the seat but still use it in booster mode for a 9 year old?

If so, that's a parental decision. I believe it technically violates the manual, which I think says to remove the harness when in booster mode, but for your purposes if you chose to do that I personally don't think it's a big deal and would likely make the same choice.

The harness components might be uncomfortable for the booster rider, but I doubt it would be unsafe.

I can't see why you couldn't change out the harness, or get a new harness....but if you need 'peace of mind' you probably shouldn't use the seat at all.

the peace of mind is more for what they might have spilled on the harness and just general nastiness of other people drool, vomit, and stuff like that. Not in the sense of accidents, washing incorrectly and stuff like that. \

I figured it would be a parental thing but wanted to make sure I was not missing something. I figure it is is loosened and move to the side my daughter will be fine with the harness still in it.

I will check to see how it looks once I get it put back together. I will see what the reach of the harness is when pushed out of the way and loosened. That is something I would not have thought of. Thanks.
