long lasting convertible?

Im trying to guide my sister.
Her 5yr old daughter is super tall like her daddy, she is in size 8-10 clothes.
She outgrew her Britax seats rfing right at 2yrs old, and outgrew them ffing by 3.5yrs. (they then got Frontiers).

New babe seems to be growing just as fast.
What seat would get them the longest rfing and ffing use by height?

Currently he is 12-13wks, but about 15lbs, in 6-9m/9m clothes

The brand new Graco Extend2Fit is about as tall as convertibles get, with no standing height limit and a 50 pound rear facing weight limit. The Safety 1st Advance Air+ EX has similar stats.

If they're tall and super skinny, there are quite a few car seats of similar height but with a 40 lb weight limit: Britax Boulevard/Advocate (G4.1 or ClickTight versions), Chicco Nextfit, and 3 other Graco options: 4Ever, Milestone, and the "clones": Size4Me/Fit4Me/MySize/Headwise/Contender. Those are all basically the same seat with different sellers/price points/features.

Looks like the Clicktight seats would be the winners as far as usable height -- 28.5" internal height. http://carseatblog.com/22818/the-ul...ertible-space-comparison-review-size-matters/

And I think they have top slots that are over the 18" on the tallest Graco seats -- the Clicktight seats' are maybe 18.5"? The only convertible taller than that would be a Sureride at 19", but a Sureride will be outgrown RF by height sooner than a Britax seat.

If the child is also heavy and/or leggy, I would probably go with an Extend2Fit. It's almost as tall and the Britax Clicktight seats don't have a ton of legroom for rear-facers.
