Theoretically speaking, what about a bib? One of those wide, squarish ones.

Someone needs to trademark "car seat dickie."

Do we actually know that the seat doesn't pass with strap covers? I've heard that as speculation, but I don't think I've ever actually seen a statement about it.

Frankly, if a seat's safety can be compromised so much by the addition of a thin piece of fabric, I probably wouldn't be comfortable using it with my kid at all.

So, the Next it's not mine anymore because I sold it, BUT my friend let me borrow it because I gave the Radian back to DD#1 to put her back harnessed and I gave DD#2 the infant seat, but when I when back to cloth diapers she had more than one inch left of space above her head, so I ask my friend who I had sold the Next too to trade seats with me, so now she is using my infant and I am using the Next until I can get DD#2 her new convertible out of layaway..... Sooo long story short, I made the decision of trading seats back and just use disposable diapers until we get the new seat, or keep the fight with DD#1 about her behavior at the car when she uses a booster seat....... If it helps, we use the Next a LOT and also live in a tropical climate. The only 2 time we've ever had an issue with no collar at all (i.e. not a full collar; we pull up the necks of *all* shirts) was when kiddo was in a bathing suit with thin straps and once when in a tank top. That's it So there's hope mama.
