Is this still safe?

When installing DS's infant seat I must have pulled to hard because I cracked the base. The seat is a Graco Snug Ride and it still has close to 3 years before it expires. Is it still okay to use?
I am trying to uplaod a picture, sorry it is so big! This is the front of the carseat, that would be against the back of the seat.

You might want to call Graco about that, I have a feeling they'd recommend replacing the base.

I would call Graco as suggested, and not use it until/unless you get their approval. The infant bucket can be installed without a base, or you can pick up a Scenera for $45.

Cracked plastic=don't use it. You can continue to use the infant seat without the base until you replace it.

If you want to use the base, you can also replace the base. Of course, unless you find it clearanced (I saw a few older boxes in my Babies R Us on Saturday marked $29-something) it will generally be around $40, so you may prefer to use the seat without a base, or switch to a convertible.

It's hard to tell in your pic, but it looks like the recline foot is missing. If it is, that would certainly account for the base cracking when you went to install it. (the recline foot makes up the majority of the structural support of the front of the base)

Just mentioning it so that the same thing doesn't happen with the replacement base.

The recline foot is there, it must blend in!
