If you had to choose-- Combi Centre or Graco Snugride?

I had the pleasure of helping out an older woman today while shopping at the local Base Exchange (BX). She was shopping for a co-worker's newborn grandchild, which was very kind; the co-worker was deployed and called her early in the morning to ask the favor. The grandbaby was still in the hospital, and parents hadn't bought a carseat yet.

Anyhow, the only choices right there in front of us were a $99 Combi Centre (I think the 2007 ST model-- it was in Cherry but only on the outer parts, not the entire cover like the DX model. Wasn't marked well, either way.), a $99 Snugride, a $79 Snugride in a more neutral pattern, and a $49 OMG-I-can't-believe-how-cheap-this-POS-is bucket. I don't know a whole lot about the preferred infant seats around here, except that I remember hearing good things about the Chicco Keyfit, which was not on the shelf in front of us. :( I helped her though, to understand some of the features that were listed on the boxes, and we checked the lowest slots and highest slots to see which one had the better range (they *looked* fairly equal, actually). In the end, not seeing much difference in size, usage, or any other major factors, she went with the $79 Snugride.

What do you think? Did she get a good seat?

I liked my Combi, but probably not enough to buy it again though. The only Snugride that I have experience with is on old 3 point so I am no help there.

I know everyone on here seems to like snugrides from what I have read. I had one and never had any issues. Except at that point I wasn't as aware of carseats in all their glory so wasn't really paying attention. I didn't know what Britax was. I just got a travel system that matched. So anyway but it seems to be a widely used carseat and I beleive it did great on the tests.

I had the $79 SnugRide. I believe the only difference is the EPS foam and the Up Front Adjuster (which I don't like on bucket seats anyway)

I will be keeping my SnugRide for subsequent babes, but if for some reason I lost it, I would buy another one just like it.

Its a nice seat and the only issue I ever had with it (and I had the rear adjust one) was Jackson outgrowing it at 3.5 months....

Snugrides are good seats. I had one, i'm in Canada so the price means nothing to me but one with a upfront adjust is easier to use and is more likely to be used correctly. I would likely pick a SR over a Combi and my top pick would be a Safeseat1.

I'm always so amazed when I hear of babies that outgrow them so soon. My daughter still fits in hers (2.5 inches of shell above her head and 20lbs) and she is 15 mos old!
I wonder how long she would fit in a SafeSeat? :lol

Camille can still fit in it at ten months. It was just that Jackson was unusually long and big headed for his age and I think Camille could make it till two in the SS1....
