HBB for my 9.5 yr old

Hello!

My 9.5 yr old is just shy of 56 inches and weighs about 75lbs (that's a guess, haven't weighed her in a while, but the height is accurate-we were measuring to prepare for roller-coaster season, LOL).

I have a Britax Parkway SG that she has been using. We had a Ford econoline with those low seats so I couldn't consider a lbb because there wouldn't be head support. Now, I've bought a new 2011 Aveo (big switch eh?LOL). ... I tried to put her Parkway in and the headwings were scrunched up against the side of the car and it tilted the whole seat slightly. To get home from the dealership I took the backrest off and used it as a lbb. I don't know if I'm emotionally ready for her to be in a lbb. LOL LOL So - are there hbb out there that would be a slimmer profile than the Britax?

She "almost" could ride in the backseat of the car without a seat. THe shoulder belt goes too high but I bet by the end of the summer it is ok. As long as she sits on the outer seats. The middle seat the shoulder strap almost goes across her face. How crazy is that?

Anyway, I wasn't thinking much about carseats when I bought this car. My nautilus for 6yr old fits in great though!! It's just what to do about my daughter ...

As long as she has head support in the new car and proper fit with the shoulder belt, leave her in the LBB. I'm completely comfortable with a child of her age in a low back.

The shoulder belt isn't a concern as much as the lap belt is. The lap belt can cause internal injuries that are very serious. That's far more likely than the shoulder belt doing something.

That shows how the belt should fit.

If there's head support, a backless is fine. My daughter just moved to a backless in my car. She's 8.5 and I really haven't got a reason to keep her in a high back, since she specifically asked to move.

Thanks for the responses. :)

The lapbelt fits her properly, it's just the shoulder belt doesn't in the rear. Almost, but not quite.

Yeah ... I know ... no reason a lbb wouldn't be just fine for her - but then I'd have to admit she his growing up ... :p I don't think I have a choice in this car but to put her in the lbb.
