Hi there, I’m deciding between the graco slim fit and the graco slim fit 3lx for my 2019 Ford explorer. The seats will mainly be on either side with the middle seat left open, but if I need to put them side by side to accommodate another adult or infant car seat in the future, will they fit side by side?
Thanks!
The Explorer is reasonably wide in back, so I think there is a very good chance there is sufficient room to install two SlimFit3 LX side-by-side with each other. You may need to use seatbelt installation to accomplish this, in order to move them far enough away from each other to fit. If you have inflatable seat belts, this would mean you cannot use the forward-facing built-in lock-off feature with the inflatable belt. Which side the infant seat will go may depend on the layout of the seatbelts.
The regular SlimFit may be also possible, but is wider and would be less flexible.
Be sure to get a good, free return policy whichever you buy. That means if you buy at places like Amazon or Walmart, be careful to check that it is shipped/sold by Amazon or Walmart and not a third party retailer. Return shipping to third party merchants can cost a fortune. If you go with the SlimFit3 LX, the True3Fit LX is identical except for fashions and is on deal right now at Walmart:
