Graco Atlas in 17 Sienna

My kids are all older (16 and up) and I haven't used a car seat in years. I now need to install a seat for our god-daughter who will be spending more time with us. She is 5.5, between 38 and 40lbs, and I'm not sure of her height. She has at least 3 settings left on the atlas when it's not installed. I am attempting to install it in the 2nd row captains seat, but the recline bar seems to want to slip off the front of the seat. I'm installing with the seat belt and top tether as it's my understanding that toyota has a 40lb latch limit and she right at that. Any suggestions for a good install?

Hi there! Do you mean that the front of the seat is overhanging? If so, that's fine. In harness mode only 80% (4/5) of the seat needs to be on the vehicle seat. I suggest just letting it sit where it wants to sit and working on getting a tight install with it there. If you can't get it, try a different seating position. If you're still having trouble, finding a local CPST may be helpful.
