Good RF convertible car seat for grandparents

Okay, DD2 (12 months, 30", 19.5 lbs) has officially outgrown her infant carrier by height. There goes plan A for my trip to Colorado to visit the grandparents at their vacation home. DD2 does not have a ticket on the airplane, and we are going to wheel DD1's car seat in the airport. My dad is meeting us at the airport. So I'm thinking I'll send a seat for DD2 for the GPs to keep there. I was about to buy a Cosco Scenera, but I noticed their price rose to $73 on amazon.com. So, I figured I'd ask for another round of opinions, which seat to buy in the $100 and under. I'm fine to get the Cosco, but I wanted to see if there's a better seat for my purposes if I spend up to an extra $25.

Our needs- able to be installed into a myriad of rental cars RF or FF, RF until at least 2, ideally get us until at least 5 FF. Easy installation would be a great bonus, but that's probably asking too much.

I'd still do the Scenera, though you may not get to five in it (I'd be shocked).

If you get lucky, Target has Sceneras for $25 this week on clearance. Can you or the grandparents pick up one?
