Frontier 90 crocth strap position

Just got our Frontier 90 for DD. The crotch strap has me confused. The farthest back position has it just a tiny bit under her, but the other position has it about an inch and a half from her crotch. This is with her scooted all the way back or course.

Manual say to use the position that is closest to her but not under her.

Which should I use? If there wasn't such a gap between her and the strap, I'd say the manual says the outermost, but that gap has me confused. It would be snug on the other though.

The one that is closest but not under.. That would be the second position if the last one is under her. Most likely as she settles in the seat she will scoot forward more and that will be even more under her.

I just moved my DD's out to the furthest position and seems like she slouches more but the one closest to her seemed to be under her. Is it okay for DD to slouch and not sit straight up?
