Fronter 85 short belt path installation problem, help!!

I'm a nanny for 3 kids full time. E is 18 months and rides outboard behind the passenger rear facing in a SK Radian XTSL. P is almost 4 years old and rides in the middle in a Frontier 85. P is 2 years old and rides outboard behind the driver rear facing in a SK Radian XTSL. Both the Radians have angle adjusters. I had the Frontier installed using the long belt path but I noticed it was being pulled to the right since that's the side the shoulder belt is on. So I installed it with the short belt path and when I went to tighten the harness with P in the seat the whole seat came forward! Now there is this huge gap between the car seat back and the Frontier. Is this okay? It has never happened to me before. I used to have the Frontier behind the driver when I only watched 2 kids and I installed it with latch and the short belt path there and never had a gap. I guess the only solution is to use the long belt path again but how do I prevent it from leaning to one side?

It sounds like the shoulder belt was tight but the lap belt was not as snug. So over time the shoulder belt pulled it sideways. Try the lbp again, but this time really focus on getting the lap belt portion of the belt super snug, then switch the retractor to lock the shoulder belt.

ETA: no it is not ok for the seat to slide forward when you pull the adjuster strap. No more than 1 inch side to side or front to back movement when you give a good tug.

It is ok to have a gap between the bottom of the Frontier and the vehicles seat back as long as the top of the Frontier is snug against the vehicle. It is not ok for it to move when you pull the adjuster strap.
