Flying with a booster

I'm flying with my 6 yr old in 2 weeks. She's in a HBTB. We won't be checking any luggage, we are flying back the same day so no need for anything extra. Can I just carry both pieces on the plane and put them in the overhead storage?

What airline are you flying on? We were told that we could not carry our nbb onto the plane when we flew United Airlines this summer and that it had to be gate checked. On our flight home, I put the nbb in a large bag and carried it on board without anyone saying anything.

Alaska Airlines. Dang, now I'm nervous that they are gonna try and make me gate check it.

If it's in a bag and it's one of your allowed carryons, you'll be fine. Cabin space is limited and they may require you to gate check items that aren't a part of your alloted amount.

Ok, so it needs to be in a bag? Like a suitcase? I wonder if I have one it will fit in that I won't have to check. The only other carry ons we will have is my purse and maybe a small backpack for B with a few toys.

If she's over 40 pounds I'd just take the backless portion.

Wendy

She is, barely, she's 42lbs. Normally I would do that, but she *just* started in her booster about 1 1/2 weeks ago and she's special needs and is developmentally behind, so I don't think she'll do very good in a backless.
