I'm not so great at estimating longevity of a seat but as far as I have heard the symphony can only be used RF with the headrest on the lowest 2 positions so that makes it pretty short RF wise. I have heard most kids outgrow it RF not much after 2, tall kids as early as 18 months. It's not usually highly recommended for ERF for that reason.

I told her maybe a myride. My best friend uses one for her daughter and really likes it.
The symphony seat is silly. if you look at the numbers it sounds OK, but the fact that you can't use the top slots RF makes it very limiting :/

Hmm...my daughter is all body and 80% for height, we don't have the headrest extended at all and she's got tons of room over her head on the lowest headrest setting. true, in the 2nd position it is just shorter than the myride and in the highest setting (ff) about an in taller than the myride. It has tons of legroom and I got a great deal on mine, and it gave me more front-to-back room (which I needed with three kids) than the myride did.
