In Search Of DS games for 4 year old

My son received a DS for Christmas and we're having troubled finding appropriate games for pre reader. I'd love educational games but am open to anything fun for his age group.

There are three Sesame Street games that DD1 likes. They're something like Cookie's Counting Carnival, Ready Set Grover, and Elmo's A to Zoo adventure. She complained about other games being hard for her. I don't know what other games you're going to find for a 4YO, though.

I think the sesame games will be too simple...he knows letter sounds, is starting to sound out words, knows and understands numbers and can do simple addition and subtraction easily.

He has Animal Genius for the DS, but he has played the pants off of his leapster version of the same game so it only holds his interest so long. He also has a Scooby Doo game that he can play pretty well.

Does anyone have games their kids have outgrown? Maybe a Diego, Scholastic, or Crayola game? Or Umizoomi, Game Room game, or anything else?

Do you have a game stop near you? They have a lot of used games you can get try and then trade back in if you don't like them.

Thanks! We've been doing that but in NYC everything gets picked through FAST. Yesterday they had about 10 games LOL. My kid is getting impatient!

When my husband is home he plays Little Big Planet with my son on the PS3, but the little guy is impatient to use the DS.

My inlaws bought it and didn't give me enough notice to build up a little game collection in advance.

My DD1 is 6 and in kindergarten, and is starting to read. She doesn't find the games simple or boring. *shrug* The games actually automatically adjust the difficulty based on how well the child plays.

I have [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Smart-Boys-Toy-Club-Nintendo-DS/dp/B001BJ68YQ"]this [/ame]game. Not sure if it would be too simple, too.

My 4 yr-old wouldn't play it because it wasn't like his brother's games (Mario, Kirby, etc). So it was played maybe 2-3 times.

If you're interested, I'd take $15 shipped (1st class w/tracking) for it. (can't ship until Tues, though)

I just got ds the Diego Great Dinosaur Rescue and he literally beat this game in 20minutes, he asked for my help once to figure out what to do...He plays the game for about 5minutes then he is BORED! :( I was hoping this game would be more age appropriate for him. He has a hard time with the games he already has...Cars 2, Lego Batman and Toy Story 3...Although he's doing a lot better at Toy Story 3.

A little OT..But, I'm finding the less time he spends on his ds the better. I was thinking about an Ipod, a tablet or Innotab but now I'm thinking the less video games the better. Has anyone noticed that their LO's acting different after playing their video games, almost like they go into another world! Ds gets crazy! He is less apt to listen and easily annoyed...I guess how I sort of get spending to much time on my electronics all day...WIDE AWAKE! Mind going 500 miles an hour, can't sleep etc,..
Ds is limited on time to his ds, but day before yesterday he got more time with his new game and wow the difference.

I have a sonic racing game w/o case, a I spy type nintendo advance game (will work in the ds lite), a like new diago game (dino hunt iirc) with case and manual, and I am sure I can find a few more that my kids do not play with. Let me know if you are still interested and we can pm about it.

Thanks ladies!

My son doesn't have a problem with behavior and DS play, but he only uses it during limited hours and knows the limits (he is a rule-oriented kid). I do usually have a fit when he turns it off, but he moves on really quickly.

I don't know what to do about this thing. When my ILs bought it, it seemed like there were TONS of games for him. But now I'm thinking there aren't.

So far the only game he likes is the scooby doo game. I'm just running through the Game Stop used games when I find them and returning them all LOL. He LOVED his Leapster until he kind of outgrew his games and the console seemed to go on the fritz. I really didn't want to invest more in the older technology, but I'm I'm annoyed about the DS too.

I would think there would be a great market for educational games for this thing that are fun for little kids. Not sure why it is so difficult.

seamonkeys - I was thinking that would be a great game, but he didn't love it when we tried it. Thanks for the offer!

dneul - It is a 3DS, so the Advance games won't work. Let me know what else you find!
