Diono Radian RXT is tilting in backseat of Kia Niro

We have a 15-month-old kiddo strapped into a Diono Radian RXT mounted rear-facing in the backseat of a Kia Niro. We are using the Diono foam spacer so that the seat sits farther upright. The problem we have is that it is "tilty", and the tighter I make it, the tiltier it gets. Is this unsafe? Any tips for fixing it?

One option would be to use the lower anchors instead of the vehicle seat belt.

The general trick to avoid tilting has to do with how you tighten then lock the seat belt. First, route the belt through the belt path. Without locking the belt, tighten the seat by pulling the belt straight out from the seat rather than up toward the seat belt's shoulder anchor. Keep hold of the shoulder belt at the angle you used to tighten it as you lock the seat belt at the retractor. Feed the shoulder belt into the retractor, avoiding pulling upward. Check for movement at the belt path. Install the angle adjuster.

I'm looking for a video that shows this well. I'll add it if I can find it!

This is really common in some cars that just have a strong retractor especially with a seat with a narrow belt path. If you can't or don't want to use lower anchors (I don't blame you, so difficult with this seat) you can use a locking clip instead.
