What Car Seat fits in a Lexus GS300 (2001)?

Our commuter car is a Lexus GS300, 2001. We have been having a very hard time finding a car seat that fits in the car, without the seats having to be moved forward. We first had trouble with the BRITAX CHAPERONE and are now having the same problem with convertible car seats. My Son is 9 months so we are still having rear facing.

We bought the BRITAX MARATHON, after being told it was good for small cars, but still had trouble getting it to fit in the center of the back seat.

With both car seats we gave up and drive the SUV when we are with the baby but I would love to find a convertible car seat that fit in the Lexus, and is safe.

I don’t consider the GS300 a small car, and it's a pretty common car, so I have to say I am very surprised we are having this issue. Maybe it's user error and we are just installing it wrong?

If anyone drives a GS300 (or something smaller) with a car seat, I'd love to know what car seat you have.

I am also open to tips on looking at installtion errors. Maybe we are missing something?

You are more than welcome to post pictures of your installation. We can critique it from here. It's not the same as in person, but as a group we usually get pretty much everything.

As for the fit, the Chaperone is HUGE. It's a tight fit in all cars.

And for convertibles, now that your child is nine months old you don't need a newborn angle, so if you put a Chaperone in there you can put ANYTHING you want in and it'll fit. What likes do you have, other than safe? All carseats pass the same tests, so no worries there. If you still have the Marathon, simply install it as upright as 30 degrees and it should fit and probably allow the front seats to move back four or five inches.
