backless boosters are too narrow

My girl turns 10 this month. She's had a growth spurt and has really filled out and gotten some hips. In December she was 72 pounds and 51" tall. And she's assuredly grown since then. I expect she may add some height next, but for now I think she still needs a booster of sorts. In my car we use a Diono Cambria. The babysitter has an older backless Graco that apparently is now too narrow (between the arm rests). The Diono is getting snug/narrow, too. Can she sit on a cushion for a bit of height to get the shoulder belt properly placed? Or is that dangerous/could the cushion slip from under her in a crash? It seems most backless boosters have arms, and fitting between those arms is the issue. What to do? Thanks!

Hi!
Unfortunately, using a cushion in place of a booster isn't safe; it could lead the belt to slip up the abdomen in a crash, causing internal injury.

The Diono Solana 2 is the widest booster currently on the market, so you could replace the Turbobooster with that.

If you're up for an inflatable booster instead, the BubbleBum or Hiccapop are the most "cushion-like" options available, with an alternate belt guide style.

You can also see if there is a different seating position in the vehicle, maybe the middle seat or 3rd row if you have one, where she may pass the 5-step Test sooner.
