All of Recaro's seats should be faa approved. Most Graco seats are, the only one that isn't is the SmartSeat. If you look on the seat you should see a label stating "approved for use in motor vehicles and aircraft" in red. The info is also in your manual along with airplane installation instructions (usually "refer to lap only belt installation instructions.")

If you don't want to use the seats you have, we can probably recommend a lighter-weight one. Is your child rear-facing or forward-facing in the car?

bring this back up as its almost time to fly. i currently have a Britax Pavilion 70-G3 and a Recaro Performance ride. Southwest says that the CRS should not be wider that 16" however the Britax is 18.5 and the Recaro is 19". im not sure what to do here.

My son will be 16 months next month at time of flight. Roughly 30-32lbs. any recommendations?

i asked Southwest about this AMSafe Aviation CARES system but they didnt know anything about it and im currently waiting on a call back regarding it.

You just don't sit in the bulkhead and lift the armrest, and those seats will fit. All the websites say that but all the planes Southwest uses have armrests that lift. (plus that's the measurement near the base, not at the widest point.)

The CARES is legal but unlikely to fit well.

If you want a light travel seat, the Scenera NEXT might suit.
