How much would you pay?

Unless I knew and trusted the person selling it to me, nothing. Not worth the risk.

However, a good formula is to take the price of the seat new ($280 for a Marathon) and divide that by the number of months it's good for. In this case for a Marathon, 72. Then take that number ($3.89) and multiply it by the number of months left. For a seat purchased in 2006, that means it can be anywhere from a mid 2005 seat to a December 2006 seat. So 34 to 49 months left. $132 to $190 would be a fair price for a seat purchased in 2006, depending on when it was made.

And for that price you can get a new one from Amazon, probably with more time left (I'm guessing man. date of Nov. 07 to Mar. 08 on the ones that are marked down, though there's no guarantee.)

I wouldn't pay anything for a used seat, because I wouldn't trust it.

The second one you linked to might be ok, if it truly is new in the box and STILL HAS THE REGISTRATION CARD ATTACHED to the harness. It would depend on the date of manufacture, too.

Ashley, Brooke, and Graystone are all excellent prices for their probable man. dates, IMO.

I found a wealthy family here locally that sold me their 2 grandparent used 2006 Marathons (still in plastic) for 50$ a piece. Ill admit, it was an absolute steal, and I have complete confidence in the seats, it's clear they were used at most for a few weeks. The family purchased them for the local set of grandparents who kept the twins twice for a week each while the parents went on vacation.
There aren't very many cases where I'd feel comfortable buying a used car seat, so be careful!

I second amazon, albeebaby and travelingtikes.com They are probably newer seats for just about the same price as you are looking at on CL and you know the history. WHy pay $180 when you can get a brand new one will warranty for $20-40 more? Amazon also has another $15 cashback too.

If the second link is new with the registration card (important for the warranty) then you could do that if it isn't too inconvenient.
