What should I do?

Dorel sent me a shipping label to send back my nephew's old Scenera. They also sent some instructions on how to return it. I called FedEx like they said, and apparently FedEx cannot pickup from my location. I really don't have the time to drive an hour and a half(one way), just to return their defective seat. I also really don't feel like calling them back.

Yeah, definitely call them and tell them. Maybe they can send UPS instead or something?

I think I've missed why your's is being sent back - are you having problems with the harness snagging too? If so, I'd make sure that TC has been notified of it before sending it back. They may want the seat for evaluation.

Yeah, the harness snagged. I just tried calling Dorel. The automated message played about 6 times (press 9 to repeat this message, AND I DIDN'T). And then, guess what it said... GOODBYE. thanks a lot.

Ok, so I finally talked to someone from Dorel. It took him a while to understand what I was trying to say. I couldn't understand him very well either. He sent me an email right away so now I have to send them the harness strap, model sticker, and a 5 inch piece of fabric. Why couldn't the first guy have told me that? Much easier than trying to return the whole seat.

Now you have a spare cover :)

Proof that you've destroyed a seat is sometimes used as an alternative to shipping the seat back... Britax usually wants their seats back so they can look into the cause of the problem, but other manufacturers tend not to be as diligent.

Actually, I had to cut off a 5 inch square of the fabric to send to them:( If I wanted to I could order a new cover and harness strap, and still use the seat. I had to sign a letter to send with the stuff that said I agree to destroy and dispose of the seat. So... we'll see what I do.

Oh ugh! What a waste of a perfectly good cover! Our insurance company here destroys seats with covers on, even Britax. They could sell the covers and recoup some of their costs on replacement. Regardless--I would destroy the seat since it's possible that whatever caused the initial problem will continue to be a problem even with a new harness...

Sorry for asking but can someone fill me in on the problem? I wonder if this is an issue with performance, compliance or something of the nature that Transport Canada defective group should be aware of.

Thanks.

Oh yeah.....so you're having the snagging problem too?
I think I'm just going to avoid Dorel in the future, from all I've heard.
The IL's have a Touriva but if they want to bring my youngest in the car, they can use our True Fit (we'd be installing either way, they have zero clue about car seat safety....)
I'll put up with the install/uninstall, it's not that hard anyways with the True Fit.

I don't think you should re-use this seat...
And from the sounds of things, I think the advice to call TC is a good idea.
