Ever since my phone upgraded to Kitkat all the buttons on the bottom are cut off. I've tried Uninstalling and reinstalling the app. Nothing has worked. Any ideas?

Here's a screen shot.

I reported this issue to the developer almost 6 months ago. It's pretty unlikely the app developer will ever issue an update:-(

I may begin testing Tapatalk for the mobile app after the forum upgrade which could be in 2-3 months.

Seems silly he wouldn't update to fix it operating system are only gonna keep updating. That makes me sad but I'll deal. I do have tapatalk and would love seeing it on there.

The original developer would have had it fixed long ago, probably before KitKat was officially released.

The problem is that he sold out his company a couple years ago. It is now owned by the developers of this forum software, vBulletin. They actually package it with their latest software, but essentially do not support or update it. I have no idea why. Financial problems inside the company I imagine.

Another thing I've noticed is this app is a battery hog because of memory drain. I have to manually close it each time I exit.

Well that's one thing I haven't had an issue with. I have notifications on and it never comes up in the top ten battery usage list. Granted, I'm not actually using the app a lot, it's mostly just in the background. Obviously anything you use frequently will suck some juice. If you have Android you can check by going to Settings -> More -> Battery

The worst battery hog app for me by far is Facebook. All day, every day if I am logged in. Usually over 20%. The only thing worse is Google Maps when I've used it recently. A distant second for non-Andorid/Google apps is my Avast security app at a few percent. That excludes stuff like Android System, Google Play, Android OS, Google Search, etc.

Facebook makes me so angry!! I have notifications turned completely off from my phone, but it wakes my phone up 200+ times in an hour (according to Wakelock Detector app). The only way to stop it is to go to the app manager and force stop it, or uninstall.

It seems that CSO jumps to the top couple on occasion if I have been on it, even if I don't actively use it long. It's just random, though.

I've occasionally seen CSO on my battery list too. It has seemed decidedly random.

I got so sick of the Facebook app being a hog that I uninstalled it. I kept the Messenger app, though. I use the mobile site.

Apparently the next version of Android - L - will improve battery life over KitKat significantly. I read some testers were getting about two hours of additional "on" time, and that's just from the developer preview version, on an older phone. Woot!

I'm getting the same thing g with my newly-installed Kitkat, and now Wakelock Detector doesn't work on an unrooted phone

:-( it's aggravating. But we LOVE it and have to deal! Ugh!

Random thought re: the CSO app and battery use - did you try disabling push notifications in the settings? That could help.

Yep. I don't get push notifications just a nightly email. So it's not that. At one point the app would kill my battery in an hour. It's let up from that some now but still annoying.

That's very weird. My push notifications are always going in the background, even when the app isn't active. I never see it on my battery use list at all. Maybe try uninstalling it and re-installing it, and between uses make sure you exit completely? I just tap the back button a few times until its gone then it disappears from the active apps list. I'm running Android 4.4.2 on a Samsung Galaxy Note 2. I don't use it for an extended time, mostly just when push notifications pop to read a PM or subscribed thread and maybe make a quick response.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. I'm always around a charger so it's not a huge deal. Just annoying. I shut it down when I remember but I usually forget. I'm looking forward to possibly tapatalk though,

Here another screen shot. It's sad because I'm probably going to get rid of the app. I shouldn't have to manually close it each time because it's being such a memory hog.

Very weird, I wonder what causes it to do that if it's normally in the background. Does the Android built-in battery app show the same thing?

For example, restart your phone completely and do your normal stuff for a day and see how it compares on the standard battery meter to other apps.

I wish I had an answer for you, but this is one of those things I'm not even sure the developer could resolve even if they were still supporting the app!
