Making room for baby

Baby four is due in February and we're getting ready. We have a 2002 Town and Country that only has one forward facing top tether latch in the middle of the back row bench. So, I finally convinced my engineer husband (who really thought it would be just fine to top tether to any point on the vehicle) to check out the salvage yard for a bench with more than one top tether latch. I thought I read that that was okay on here a few years ago- I hope my memory was accurate?

He just got home with a bench that has three top tether latches. Even though I asked him to remember what model/year of car he got it from, he's not sure- he thinks it was a Grand Caravan higher end model but doesn't know the date on it. So first question, besides whether or not we are okay swapping the benches out, is, are the weight limits likely the same as far as using the buckles vs the latch? If not, what is the safe minimum we should go with?

I have other questions too if the install turns out the same as it does with our current bench, but I'll wait til we've played around with it to ask those.

Thank you!

My issue with a salvage bench would be, Was it in a crash? Because if it was, the bench has the buckle end already there and they would have to be replaced.

I am not sure how comfortable I would be with it..

They said the reason it was there was b/c the engine died. As far as we know, it was not in an accident. My husband said the body of the car looked like it was in great shape. There were plenty there that were wrecked, but this one looked good?

The 2001 model year had three top tethers along the back row. I don't know how I'd feel using one with an unknown history, but if you trust your DH then it's an option, I think.
