Needing 3 across options for infant, RF, and booster

We have a RF 13 month old (23 pounds and 30 inches), a 6 year old (around 43 pounds and 44 inches) in a Graco high back booster, and a new baby on the way.

We need to purchase a) a new convertible for the 13 month old and b) a new infant carrier and base for the new baby. (The 13 month old has just outgrown the Graco Snugride30 we have and it's set to expire a month after the new baby is due to arrive.)

We also need to get 3 across in a '06 Ford Explorer. Keeping in mind that we have 2 new carseats to purchase (x2 since we'll have the same set up in my husband's car), what are some viable options without breaking the bank?

Would the Chicco Keyfit for the new baby, Graco highback booster for our oldest, and the Britax Roundabout for the RF toddler work? Suggestions on how to place them in the car or another combo of seats? (Would prefer NOT a Radian since my husband is 6'4 and the Radian is so tall RF that it would make it super hard to scoot the seats back for him.)

Thanks for your help!

The Graco Snugride 30 only came out a couple of years ago. None will expire for a long time. Do you mean a Graco Safe Seat? The Snugride 30 is actually a great three across seat.

The angle adjuster for the Radian sits it very upright. Depending on what cars you have, you can also brace the Radian on the front seats. It does sound like a good fit for you.

I hear the Graco My Ride, while wide, puzzles well with a Graco Turbobooster. It'll also last about as long or longer than the Roundabout, and costs less.

Thanks! Yes, I meant the SafeSeat. And, by puzzling with the booster, would that still allow my daughter to buckle herself in?

I'm really trying to avoid the Radian because of cost too--I could get the Britax Roundabout AND the Keyfit for about the same price (about $20 more) as just the Radian.

Wow, the Radian R100 is about $200, so you're getting some good deals on the Keyfit and Roundabout!

Buckling in a booster in a tight three across can be very difficult. A harness is sometimes needed. But yes, by puzzling well together I've heard that kids can buckle themselves in a Turbo next to a My Ride without too much trouble.

I haven't found the Radian for $200? Where can I find that deal? The cheapest I've seen is $270. I've found the Keyfit for $140 and the Roundabout for $150, which is what got me to $20 more for both carseats. Guess I need to do some more shopping.

Assuming you are in Canada (disregard this if you're not), Amazon.ca has a Radian on sale for $233 + an additional 15% off right now, bringing it down to under $200. Even though it is out of stock, it can still be purchased for that price and will be shipped as soon as they get it in (mine was shipped within a week of ordering)

No, I'm not in Canada.

But, I think I was looking at the Diono RXT and not the Radian 100. I guess I thought the 100 wasn't a convertible and was a booster seat. Forgive my ignorance. :)

Just make sure your boostered child is put in the seat that only has acsess to one female buckle end or you'll be reinstalling the center seat often. The 2 rf seats should have their buckels between them, so there is no chance of confusion.:D
