We have one and love it! We just turn it so the opening of the alligator's mouth is towards the seat so the buckle is still flush against the booster. I feel very safe using it and it has solved my DS's buckling difficulty.

It just seemed so big that it could move belt away from side of booster depending on seat and buckle.

Huh, I wonder if this would work well in a 3 across set-up? When my son moves to a booster full-time it would be nice if he could easily buckle himself in because the stalk is always in position vs. digging around between his booster and the convertible next to him.

My 3-across is too narrow for it, and my buckle stalks are really short so the tops are flush with the vehicle seat, but in a different vehicle I would totally get a couple for my girls.
