Please check my TWE installation

Hello everyone,

I am using a TWE in a Land Rover Discovery 3. The buckles are very awkward and move forward no matter how further back I push the vehicle's seat. The result is that the buckle's tongue is pressing heavily on the bottom of the child seat (please see the attached picture). Do you think this could be a security issue? Will very much appreciate your opinions. Thank you.

One of the installs in my own car does the same thing. It doesn't bother me in the slightest. Being a TWE, however, do you have enough space to either slide it backwards a bit more to the seats it's leaning on, or to slide it along the beltpath towards the other side of the belt at all? If you're really concerned, and either of those things works then you may feel better about the install.

Thank you all for responding to my request. There is really no way the seat can go forward- a substantial part of it is already leaning outside the vehicle's seat. And the buckle will also go forward as well- so there won't be any change.

My maxi cosi base installs like that, I can slide it over a little bit, to check the install is tight, which it is, then I lock the lock off & seat belt, but the buckle does rest on the base a little, I'm not worried about it.

Dear all,

Thank you again for taking out of your time and contribute. I highly value your help. FYI here is the answer by a Britax engineer regarding the above picture:

"It is difficult to say from the image but essentially, if the tongue does not prevent correct tightening of the seat belt then it should be OK. However, if the tongue hits the shell first then it will prevent correct tightening of the seat belt and the installation would not therefore be recommended".

Since my install is pretty tight I guess everything is fine then.

It looks like the seat is installed on the side. Would it be possible to try a middle install? I don't really like how close the buckle is.

No, the middle seat buckle is the same and the front seats are two far apart to support the back of the TWE. It is really just the tongue that is touching the seat, and not the buckle. And the buckle is not at an angle.
