I just got rid of my son's CCO, so the RA55 with that cover is going to be my next car seat purchase! I can't wait until it's released.. my poor little guy is squeezing himself into a BT Flex Loc in my husband's car at the moment.

But, I think the new "roundabout" is actually a cross between the old roundabout and the roundabout 50. I think the top slot is only 16 inches (rather than 15 or 17), so I think this is an issue.

Britax lists the top slot on the RA55 as being 1/4 in. lower than the RA50 and MA.. I wonder how it will measure in person. And the RA55's lowest slot is now 1.5in. lower than the old RA and MA, so that's nice!

 Why would they lower the top slot? Is that so the kid outgrows it quicker so they can sell another car seat and the parents buy a Frontier?

No, it is so the "regular" roundabout, would be bigger, but the roundabout 50, would be a bit smaller. I can get it, as they discontinued the diplomat all together. So, the roundabout55 would be their midrange seat, kwim?

Gotcha. Thanks!

I see that they have a box so you can compare models side by side. How did I miss that before?

I'm glad I got the RA50 cheap since the harness heights are slightly higher. I wanted a inexpensive one for our niece and nephew's so the RA50 will fit the bill.

The 50 was basically a MA without the double LATCH, lockoffs, HUGS, with a 50 lb. FF limit. The 55 looks like they actually redesigned the shell so while it looks like the MA, who knows what it'll function like until we get our hands on one...

Love that cover too! That's one of my favorites. I wish it were made for taller children. I'm still waiting to see about that to determine whether I can buy one. I'm so jealous of people with cute little petite children. :)
