HI,

i bought a 2000 honda civic 4 door and my Designer 22 bucket seat just doesn't seem to fit properly. I had it in the centre with the lapbelt and it doesn't seem like it locks. i also switched it over to the side with the lap/shoulder belt but it still just doesn't seem right. in both positions the seat can slide side to side a lot. is there someone or somewhere i can get this checked? I'm at the point wher i might just go to the next seat LO is 8month/16lbs but i don't know if thats going to actually help the fact that my seatbelts not locking. For now i've been driving my husbands truck.

If it's in with the lap belt though, that doesn't apply-- the notice is for 3 point (lap/shoulder) belts, AFAIK. So you'll want it in the middle if you have the old style base.

Twisting the buckle stalk may help. So may flipping the male end of the belt over one time.

The recommendation from TC is to not use the base on affected seats period, regardless of installation method.

Here is the original thread posted by Trudy when it was first announced.

Third post in the thread;

I'm editing this post to correct something I had misunderstood - the recommendation should be to install without the base for any seat made in the affected period. It does not matter if it is a UAS, lap only, or lap/shoulder belt in the seating position, the seat should be installed baseless with the seatbelt according to directions.
